NWEC launched in Namutumba
Naamala Women Empowerment Charity was launched on March 8 Women’s Day 2025 at Namutumba District Headquarters.
The inaugural theme of the launch was eliminating Child Pregnancies.
The event was graced by Namutumba District officials, Namutumba women leaders and counsellors.
The event had over 2000 women. Most of these girls in Namutumba get pregnant not by choice but due to lack of basic information about early pregnancies in their communities.
A majority of these girls turn out to be single mothers and, in the process, struggle to afford or access basic needs such as food, sanitary pads, soap, beddings among others.
During the launch, NWEC organized a health camp where young mothers and vulnerable women accessed key health care services, counselling, skilling, personal hygiene among others.
They also acquired skills in developing Vaseline, chalk, liquid soap, biscuits and cookery.
The event ended with entertainment and a handover of several items from NWEC and its sponsors. Items like clothes, sanitary pads, mama kits, soap, matchboxes, noodles, basins and blankets were donated to child mothers.
The launch of NWEC was proudly sponsored by Prestige Margarine, Uzima Natural Mineral Water, Vision Group, The Answer Foundation and The Temple Mount Church.
