NWEC Launches Second Season to Combat Teenage Pregnancy

Kampala, Uganda February 2026
Dorah Naamala, founder of the Naamala Women Empowerment Charity (NWEC), has urged individuals and companies to join her in the fight against teenage pregnancy.

She emphasized that many young mothers face immense challenges after giving birth, often left without support from their husbands. On Monday 13th February 2026, Naamala, her team, and program promoters held a press conference at Vision Group headquarters in Industrial Area, Kampala to unveil plans for the second season of NWEC’s empowerment initiative.

Returning to Buyende
The first season, launched last year in Namutumba (Busoga), revealed severe conditions faced by teenage mothers. This year, NWEC will return to Buyende District, where the need remains urgent.

“We found the situation very challenging, and we believe returning to Buyende will allow us to make a deeper impact,” Naamala said.

The program will tour different parts of Uganda, focusing on educating girls with practical skills to help them earn a living. NWEC will also provide household essentials such as clothing, sugar, soap, and other items to ease the burden on young mothers.

Partner Support
Corporate and community partners reaffirmed their commitment:

Richard Kansiime, Salesman at Uzima Mineral Water, praised Naamala’s compassion and pledged continued support.

Denis Kirangana, of Chapa General Enterprises Limited, highlighted the company’s pride in giving hope to those facing challenges.

Elizabeth Lutwama Nalunkuuma, Director of St. Eriza Foundation Njeru, urged parents to entrust their children to educational programs and confirmed her team will provide free medical treatment during the Buyende activities.
